Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:
Welcome back to Percy Priest Elementary School for the 2017-18 year! We hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to return for the coming school year.
Dates and Times/ 1st Day Information
Monday, August 7 - 1st day of school! 1/2 day for Kindergarten, dismissal at 11:30, full day for grades 1-4, dismissal at 3:00.
Tuesday, August 8 - 1/2 day for Kindergarten, dismissal at 11:30, full day for grades 1-4, dismissal at 3:00.
If you wish to do so, we encourage you to bring your child to school and meet his or her teacher and principals on the first day. Please plan to arrive a little early on August 7 if you are transporting your child because traffic is more congested and parking is limited. An arrival and dismissal map can be found on the Percy Priest website. We will open our doors to welcome you and your child at 7:40 am. Bus transportation will be available and brunch will be served on all half days of school.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ARRIVAL: PLEASE DO NOT PASS THE BUSES AT ANY TIME DURING ARRIVAL. This is crucial for the safety of all students. CAR RIDERS WILL UNLOAD IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL IN THE CIRCLE. They are not to unload at any time on Priest Road.
New Student Enrollment/ Registration
It is our goal to have everyone fully registered and ready to begin class on Monday, August 7, 2017. Please see the information available on the district website to register your child. If we do not have an up-to-date copy of the Tennessee immunizations and physical record (physicals must have occurred in the past year) on file at school, your child will be enrolled, but not assigned to a class. State law requires this form for the protection of all public school students. Other documents necessary for registration include: 1) proof of residence such as a utility bill, 2) a copy of the birth certificate, 3) a copy of the Social Security card, 4) copy of parent’s driver’s license, and 5) copies of custody documents, if applicable.
Sunday, July 30, 5:30 - New Families Popsicle party on the PPE playground.
Friday, August 4, 1:45 - New Families orientation. All new students can come and meet their teacher and get basic information for the start of school. Kindergarten students need to bring their classroom supplies to this event.
For your convenience, the class rosters for 2017-18 will be posted on the PPE front porch on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:00 pm. ***Class assignments may change if actual student enrollment differs significantly from the amount projected prior to school opening. You will be contacted if any changes are made.
2017-2018 School Supply Lists
If you live more than 1¼ mile from school, you should receive information from the MNPS Transportation Department that details your child’s bus route number and pick-up and drop-off times and locations. Buses will arrive 15 minutes prior to school starting time. Click here for PPE's traffic procedures. Standard School Attire (SSA)
We are standing proud and tall for the seventh year at Percy Priest in our Standard School Attire. The Standard School Attire policy will be enforced from the first day of school. Students at PPE are allowed to wear any solid color shirt with a collar or turtleneck. Pants, shorts, and skirts must be black, navy blue, or khaki. Dresses can be any solid color. Students in grades 3-4 will be required to wear a belt if the clothing item has belt loops.

Our goal is to have a wonderful start to a success-filled year in which your child develops academically and personally to his or her fullest potential.
